Membership

Membership of the Association consists of Member Associations; Associated Clubs and Associations; Life Members, Full Members, Associate Members and Apprentice (Trainee) Members. All members of the A.F.B.A. Inc. have agreed to abide by the Members Code of Conduct.

A Member Association is a body which has the same or similar objectives to the Association, and wishes to organise, control and manage its own affairs and members. Any body of Farriers and Blacksmiths within Australia which has the same or similar objectives to this Association may apply to be a Member Association of this Association. (Each State Association of the AFBA is a Member Association - secretaries names are listed under contacts. To become a member a person registers with their State Association, which pays an Affiliation Fee, on their behalf, to this Association.)

An Associated Club and Association is a body which has an interest in the Association and wishes to organise, control and manage its own affairs and members. (Other Farriers' or Blacksmiths' Associations may become an Associated Club or Association.)

An Honorary Associated Club or Association is a body which has an interest in the Association and wishes to organise, control and manage its own affairs and memebers. An Honorary Associated Club or Association is appointed following nomination by a Member Association.

Life Members are appointed at an Annual General Meeting of this Association.

A Full Member is a practising farrier and /or blacksmith residing within Australia, who does not have access to membership with a member association, and may therefore apply to be a full member of this Association.

An Associate Member is a person or business having an interest in the Association but not having access to membership with a member association.

An Apprentice/Trainee Member pays a reduced rate of subscription. Applications for membership must be made at a meeting of the State Association within the State in which the Apprentice is indentured.

For information on fees and other conditions of membership, contact the Secretary of the Association in the State in which you live or else the National Secretary.
